EC2? It has not been under market value for a decade now. It used to take 12-24 months of on demand pricing to buy the hardware outright in the 00s. Today it's under 6 months for every instance type. With GPU instances being measured i

That's what gets me about AWS. When it came out in 2006 the m1.small was about what you'd get on a mid range desktop at that point. It cost $876 a year [0]. Today for an 8 core machine with 32 gb ram you'll pay $3145.19 [1].

We don't live in 1999 any more. A big machine with a database can serve ervyone in the US and I can fit it in my closet. It's like people are stuck in the early 2000s when they start thinking about computer capabilities. Today I h

They are social networks not social media, social media is when you scream in a void and the void screams back. The latrinalia of our age if you will.

You'd think that people would have realized this after Europe avoided mass death from Russian gas being cut off only because the winter was mild.

You have one counter example. How many 0.1 programmers are there using a debugger to blindly change values in the program in the hope it fixes the bug? I've seen dozens.

I'd love for someone to explain to be how you can use a debugger cross half a dozen languages. Print works on everything from forth to python. In my experience you need to learn at least one debugger per language with a whole bunch of

Godel starts by the assumption that the system is free from contradictions which makes his papers largely irrelevant here. Again, feel free to explain how you can have a second order logical system without axiomatic limitations that doesn&#

There is math the abstract field and math the concrete example you're working on. Current education is _extremely_ biased to concrete arithmetic and a bit of algebra. If you have a predisposition to either you will do extremely well. I

It wasn't until the 1930s that people realised second order logic with arithmetic will always lead to contradictions without guardrails. Before then all mathematics was done in the object language of whatever the field in question was
