I may be naive in this, but aren't most people not assholes? Including free users. I would guess that most free users are nice enough and would appreciate the work you do. Also, making a product free is nice because if it is really coo

I think people clicked it because it was different - not because it was ugly. The minute I see a generic ad I instantly ignore it.

That's such an interesting question! I wonder if each FAANG has all of the other FAANG's content indexed behind closed doors.

Working hard is extremely rewarding if you have intrinsic interest in the problem.it's fun for you, and it's a problem worth fighting for. But I agree with my boss on this matter. If you have kids, I think you should scale down yo

This reminds me of what my first told me. He was in his 50s and decided not to have children. He said, "I don't get it man. These people, they work all the time. What's the point of having kids when you are never going to spe

Am I the only one who thinks this article is very poorly written? It doesn't really tell all the strategic reasons why Altavista fell into oblivion and its structure is all over the place. I also love Paul Graham's framework for i

I find these pop ups weird. Shouldn't we get an option to say, "Disable tracking"? These pop ups don't really have any utility because a banner won't stop them from reading the article.

I completely agree with you on this. Companies have to innovate or they die. To me Slack had plenty of chances to go beyond their initial product. Imagine if they incorporated Screen Hero into Slack and poured resources to reduce latency an

I'm not really a fan of Tuple. It seems like a poor man's version of Screenhero.

This is very interesting. Just because a technique works for situation A doesn't mean it works for situation B. Also, maybe this ex-Apple CEO didn't have the capability to pull it off.

One of the fallacies in reasoning is that people tend to judge outcomes solely on the results, not taking into consideration the initial conditions. When the authors started, did they really know that the library was going to take off and b

Companies seem to decline as the distance between customers and the engineering team grows. Dropbox used to be great and blew all their competitors out of the water. At the time their syncing speed was incredible and UI great. Nowadays not

I need to do an analysis of all of these with Microsoft Teams. That piece of software breaks so many fundamental UX laws. One of the worst culprits I've ever seen.

Fair point. All great accomplishments require some grunt work. This leads one to wonder whether or not people who work crazy hours have a high tolerance for bs and pain or enjoy some of the hard work and perseverance anyways. I believe the

I'm so tired of these articles that rehash the same idea over and over. Feel like life is too short to setup some complicated discipline system to force yourself to chug something down that you hate. You either enjoy doing it or you do

Here are my two cents. The reason why you're talking such a long time to get simple things done is because you haven't had enough experience. You said you were carried through projects and assignments, so this is all coming back t
