I'm surprised nobody mentioned Colemak. The Colemak keyboard layout is easier to learn and potentially faster than Dvorak ( http://colemak.com/ ). It is easier to learn because it changes many fewer keys, especially the less frequent ones

You're right. The article is good, and reminds me of some very good tips given by the creator of VIM (Bram Moolenaar) in a Google Tech Talk: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2538831956647446078

iPhone OS 3.0 has a Voice Recorder built in that works pretty well. I've recorded 10 minute blog posts by just casually talking into the mike.

No. You are wrong. Anecdotally, my older father is a way heavier user of apps than me. He listens to a lot of radio (NPR and even Pandora!) and loves the tip calculator and about a million other apps. Kids loving playing games so much o

I have recently been experimenting with a different method. I'm not sure taking the joy out of what you focus on is the best idea anyway. Instead of figuring out how to set up the perfect set of variables to trigger flow (focus) for long pe

You're right and you're wrong. I don't know if on balance you should be downmodded. Yes, your framework should have a shortcut for boilerplate like that, so you don't have to type it every time. I have worked with numerous frameworks, and

This is not necessarily a good thing. Apple has largely $1000+ computers. Them taking 91% (and having single-digit overall market share) means that consumers increasingly prefer small portable cheap low-power computers (netbooks and simil

I agree 100%. Ubuntu has a program built into gnome that forces you to take breaks. Go to Keyboard preferences > Typing Break. I set it to 10 minutes of work / 5 minute break. I can focus more, take short breaks to get things done (e
