It's difficult to describe but I read it more like converting the raw data (a list of results) to a generator. Akin to the "compression" described in this xkcd: https://www.xkcd.com/1155/

This is obviously not true. How would you stop runaway methane release from permafrost for example?

"A lot" maybe, but I suspect the majority would do the opposite and deny/understate the problem. Also the parent comment is more about risk management. The sensible thing to do in the absence of information is precisely to im

Perhaps. I have heard they also master differently for vinyl since it can't provide the same dynamic, frequency, or stereo range as digital. Some listeners find the result more appealing.

The message you're replying to specifically said not vegan. Your points about farming might be good but the vegan stuff is a straw man. The best diet for health and the environment[0] is high in whole grains, vegetables, fruit, nuts, s

To be fair the comment says "I bought it because x, y, z", which is probably true; not "it has gone up because x, y, z", although that might be implied.

And that's a standard quartz; the specs say -10 to 20 s/month. Still ~10x more accurate than a mechanical watch, but not ~200x more accurate as thermocompensated ones are (as mentioned in the message you were replying to).

The Climendo app takes an average of 3-5 forecasts and presents a confidence measure. Not as good as proper confidence from the model ensemble, but better than what you normally get from a single forecaster. There's a web interface too

I assume it's like phantom in the medical imaging context - a kind of test object. The OED says: A physical or computer-generated model used to calculate radiation doses, evaluate or enhance imaging techniques, etc.

I don't think your premise is correct. There have indeed been a lot of environmental scares (ozone layer, acid rain, ..., which were fortunately fixed with international effort), but mainstream climate science has if anything been far

Perhaps the total volume is higher, but this doesn't lead to downwards price pressure since there are many small(ish) buyers. The opposite is often said for the NHS in the UK - certainly a smaller buyer than the US aggregate, but maybe

Not my area but I think the fuel is the problem, not the power source. Even a fusion-powered drive needs to spit something out the back to accelerate (e.g. ions), so you need to carry many kg of ionizable fuel.
