If you like Raku, and the large Perl 5 ecosystem, you might consider going the path of Raku, as it allows 99.9% of the Perl 5 ecosystem to be used as if it is Raku, by installing the Inline::Perl5 module. Once that it done, using a Perl 5

It should maybe noted that all operators in Raku (excapt the short-circuiting || and && and friends) are in fact "user" defined operators. They just happen to be defined already every time you start a Raku program. But c

Please note that the misleading part of Perl 6 has been fixed by renaming it to the Raku Programming Language ( https://raku.org using the #rakulang tag on social media).

Well, actually that's the place if you're interested in the Raku Programming Language. Which has its roots in Perl, but is now a programming language on its own path.

Actually, it is even simpler than that. If you have the Inline::Perl5 module installed , then the only thing you need to do to load a Perl module, is to use the :from<Perl5> adverb in the -use- statement, e.g.: use DBI:from<

Agree that it did change low level syntax. What was promised initially was that a "use v5" in a lexical scope, would switch to a Perl 5 compatible parser. This project was started, but became pre-empted by the Inline::Perl5 mo

Perl 6 *was* to be the next version of Perl. That was the intent when the whole effort started in 2000. That it didn't turn out that way, has many causes. Enough has been said about that already. But to say that it was a completely

As a Tolkien aficionado, Larry Wall I think knew what he was saying when he made this comparison. I think that if you compare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit#Plot with https://en.wikipedia.org/

If you insist on comparing it to Perl, you could consider it "Perl Re-Imagined". Just like "The Lord Of The Rings" is a re-imagination of "The Hobbit".

If you think it looks interesting, you should have a look at Raku ( https://raku.org using the #rakulang tag on social media). Looks familiar? It should be, as it is the new name of Perl 6. It now also comes with an IDE ( http

FWIW, the Perl 6 promise was delivered in 2015. Because too many people did not want Perl 6 to be the future or Perl, it was renamed to Raku ( https://raku.org using the #rakulang tag on social media). Meanwhile, Perl 7 appears

That tragedy meanwhile has been renamed to Raku ( https://raku.org using the #rakulang tag on social media) and is doing very well. Meanwhile, it appears at least some form of tragedy is continuing with the Perl 7 efforts. :-(

In the case of Perl 6 this has resulted in a rename of the language to Raku ( https://raku.org using the #rakulang tag on social media). An experience I would not recommend.
