Re "Perl (5 & 5)": if you really want to be buzzword compliant, that should read "Perl, Raku", as Perl 6 has been renamed to Raku ( https://raku.org ) using the #rakulang tag for social media.

Raku (née Perl 6) has phasers that will be called when exiting a scope. One such idiom is: { # do stuff my $dbh = DB.connect(...); # do stuff LEAVE .disconnect with $dbh; # do stuff } Wh

Just for the record: Raku (née Perl 6) most definitely does not do refcounting. If you want to do serious async programming, refcounting becomes a nightmare to get right and/or a source of potential deadlocks.

Some additional info on this excellent article: Zoffix worked very hard on giving Perl 6 a different name. At that time however, the Perl 6 community was not ready for that yet. Which resulted in Zoffix leaving the Perl 6 community. In Oc

The Raku runtime is still improving, and several object creation benchmarks now outrun Perl. A low bar, some might argue. But still. Threading can make a difference on non-IO bound tasks if you're interested in wallclock rather tha

In the end, there was no transition of Perl 5 to Perl 6. Recently it was decided to rename Perl 6 to Raku, freeing up both languages from decades long entanglement. https://raku.org Not sure what this would imply for a future
