NumPy also support conversions without copying. One thing I haven't found good way to bridge between Python is the pandas.DataFrame, it seems to be quite Python focused object and iterating through DataFrame is particularly slow.

I don't think the comparison to liquidity problem is accurate. The brokers cannot mint credit out of thin air if they don't allow margins. Hence, the cash in the broker is backed 1:1, and they won't have liquidation issues. I

Honestly I don't know how that works. My understanding is that you cannot move existing ASL code under a different terms other than ASL unless you are the copyright holder. All modifications you done can be subject to whatever terms yo

What you described is exactly what Elastic doing now, and it triggers a fork. We will be fine if it happens again.

I don’t see a path for absorbing and relicense. Especially if the core code method signature diverges in the future. It is going to be a lot of trouble for Elastic to absorb non-trivial contributions from the fork.

Apache 2 license doesn’t allow you to relicense. So absorbing changes from AWS’ fork won’t be clear or easy as many in this thread suggest.

Agreed. This is quite insightful bit from kbenson. It explains well the mystery I was wondering for a while: why company wrote the code in the first place cannot compete successfully against others who supposedly have less expertise and has

As it is hard to swallow for what happened in 1989, that was a fraction of people, not all people as a monolithic sense. And that fraction is not strong enough to overturn the existing ruling class with military support. Russian later did s

Any kind of governance requires some consent from people, even if it is not in majority. A lone dictator with no support from the people fails pretty quickly based on our experience in the past a hundred years.

Yeah, of course you can. But at that point, it stops being the idiomatic Swift language. My original post is not a critic for the slowness of the language. It does (like the other post mentioned) better than Python which is what I set out t
