How does something like this function under the hood? Is it not expensive/risky to let anyone run requests on your dime?

Fun read, smug but I enjoy some opinion and life in my reading. I don’t think people producing games being hobbyists rather than business people is quite the negative I feel this post presents it to be.

How did you make that transition/find a position? Were you already using Rust in a previous role?

Here’s my own take [1] when I was on the hunt for a good HTTP client a month or so ago. [1]: https://royathan.com/blog/the-api-client-hunt/

So awesome. I love the pricing model, I’ve seen it before for MacOS apps where they are free to build yourself, but have a cost for convenience if you want it on the App Store. How is it working for you so far?

They’re nice for exploring a new API before programming around it IMO

Isn’t it also possible Apple doesn’t want other information out in discovery?

Psst is excellent, I generally use it because it uses about 1/6 the memory (50MB vs 300MB). Perhaps someone knowledgeable in Rust can help figure out this bug: https://github.com/jpochyla/psst/issues/348

If every positive comment on this thread doesn’t start by mentioning the exact percentage of their salary donated I think I might explode.

The company I work for does 3 a year, over 3 work days. Being given 24 paid hours to work on ANYTHING is pretty cool. I usually look into interesting technologies not strictly work related. I’ve spent some hackathons doing open source Rust

Spent a good day debugging, to learn that some (most?) annotations don’t work when the method is called from inside the same class (no proxy is setup).

You probably also have a residential IP and need to pay some service (Ngrok?) to convert that into a static address that’s useful right?

I’d be interested in the reason you don’t have a credit card. In my eyes, if you treat them like a debit card and don’t spend more than you have, then it’s just free money (2% cash back etc.)

What finder replacement do you use? I have ended up doing just about everything I can via the terminal as finder feels so unusable coming from windows.

We are doing this and it works pretty great across a bunch of microservices. A user makes a call into a gateway, which talks to the identity service to get a JWT with info about who the user is. Now the gateway passes the call on to the mic

I’m pretty late to this one, but I’d highly recommend Roblox. You can easily make a quick 3D game with a multiplayer game editor and there’s lots of prebuilt components to get the game off the ground quickly.
