Fact: green energy/renewable energy/energy saving technologies are cutting edge now. Fact: your processor is made from sand which was discovered by first human ever.

High-tech, by definition, is tech which can make high profit, i.e. c1 sand into $500 processor. Sand is not low-tech or high-tech by itself. PS. Quote from Wikipedia for downvoters: High tech is often viewed as high risk, but offering the o

Because GPL license protects from stealing of code without contributed back. Apple chose FreeBSD as base for it OS, Google chose Linux. Look at sad state of FreeBSD now.

I clearly understand what negative temperature is: if somebody squeezed an amount of energy out of a system, it's temperature drops. If somebody squeezed energy from a system at arbitrary zero point at temperature scale, then system te

> Coldness records themselves are almost never intrinsically important. Temperatures below 0K (i.e. you need to heat a system to have 0K back) are very important to physics. They will allow to understand vacuum much better than today.

AFAIK (I'm not a native speaker), English language has short and long words. Short words are native, long words are foreign. It's because long words in other languages are composed: short root, and suffix(es) to make proper form.

Switched my 68 yeard old mom to Linux five year ago. No complaints since that, except for video (so I upgraded CPU) and printer (cable or port is damaged, switched error handling to «cancel» instead of «pause»).

CPAN packages can be translated into perl packages automatically in many cases, or with little modifications. Same for python, ruby and node packages. See fpm[1] for example of one of such tools. [1]: https://www.digitalocean.com

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 3D shooter trilogy maps are based on real plans of Chornobyl and Prypiat. See photos here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPf8YlzUPw4 . S.T.A.L.K.E.R. itself is unusual game.

My notebook (Medion Erazer) was produced 3 or 4 years ago. Currently it has i7 CPU, 20GB of DDR3, but it's not capable to handle basic TERMINAL EMULATOR. It's time to upgrade. I suspect a covert agreement between hardware vendors
