You subclass NSScroller, and get an awesome interface designer to draw the required art for the active/inactive states. :) You can pick apart iPhoto '09 to get an idea of what bits you need, but I wouldn't advise stealing the art.

I've written many posts to newsgroups and mailing lists asking for help with my programming problems over the years. I've only actually posted/sent less than 5% of those. It's amazing how the mind works.

Apple has other evangelists on the payroll already. Some examples: User Interface, Graphics and Media, Developer Tools, Frameworks. These evangelists have often helped developers shed more light on bugs against Mac OS X which are blocking

By leveraging the JVM, they were able to re-use existing compiled Java classes alongside the Scala classes. Slide 25 hints at this, but I seem to recall Alex saying they used the Java-based Apache HttpClient in their test cases.
