In your example, you can't use `Rectangle(1, 1)` as a Square which was the point of the author. No a square is not a rectangle, it's a shape that have common properties to other shapes (rectangles, diamonds, ...).

> A common counterexample to OO inheritance is the relationship between a square and a rectangle. Geometrically, a square is a specialisation of a rectangle: every square is a rectangle, not every rectangle is a square. Well yes and no.

PostgreSQL with Hasura answer 200% of our needs. Hasura exposes a GraphQL API and translates GraphQL queries to SQL queries (that's how it solves the N+1 resolver problem). It handles authorization and permissions using the PostgreSQL

To be honest, I find Tailwind to be too "low level", and I enjoy Bulma a lot more.

Compiler is, and will always be, the general term for source-to-source translation. I believe a transpiler is especially for source-to-source translations where the source and target have the same abstraction level. For example, Python'

I've noticed since Microsoft acquired Github, the "explore" tab has been more and more useless. It's been months since it displays me the same repositories, and significantly less than before. I don't know if it

This. Restarting an Erlang process and restarting a Docker container is not the same. Let's say you create an Erlang process per request and that process crash, you don't want to restart the whole node, do you? Application resilie

Each time I set up a new project, I reevaluate the tools I use: Is there a new major version? Is my configuration obsolete? Is there a better tool for the job? That's how I switched from nyc to c8 for example (test coverage)

If the question is "do I use scripts like create-react-app", the answer is no. In general, I don't like code generators, I like to understand what I'm doing from the beginning and add stuff when I need them. But I do hav

I have maintained bare metal servers. Deploying manually was a pain, it was simplified with ansible, but decommissioning services was still a pain. Then I used systemd+docker with ansible, it was less of a pain but still required manual ope

A playbook is usually composed of many roles and potentially custom modules. I'd rather have this as a CLI tool to run in my repository. As of now, I see very limited use to this, but it has potential for CI/CD workflows.

My point was that Erlang and Elixir aren't that different. You can totally not use the syntactic sugar for proplists, it will still work the same. Therefore saying "you need to learn 2 languages" isn't correct. It's

If I understand correctly, it's more like the query (not the schema) is generated from the expected result. So your application does not need to "talk in GraphQL".
