Yes, unless you find premises to drop, thus changing the problem. Sorting is Omega(n log n) under the premise that all you have is a computable ordering relation. Radix sort removes that premise and reaches a different lower bound. In the p

I see some possibilities to test hypotheses like "$MEASURE will achieve $GOAL" a) Gather historical data where $MEASURE was attempted and see whether $GOAL was reached. This can give results like "$MEASURE is positively correlated with achi

At the core, there seems to be just a PKI for RSA keys in terms of "yes, X is a friend of mine" attestations, not unlike the PGP web of trust. So I'm optimistic that your distributed singing sessions (e.g.) could use the DSNP infrastructure

I'm happy to see an approach to social networking that doesn't require uploading personal data about millions of people into one database. However, the cryptography in the source code (encrypt.cpp) seems to be hand-made from RSA, SHA1 and R

This seems to be relevant: http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/cfe-dev/2008-August/00267... In short: per default, you get copies of captured variables, but you can mark variables to be writable from blocks. In order to be able to call a b

I don't understand the "stack frames are exempt from GC" thing -- do you mean the stack frames do not contribute reachability roots to the garbage collection or that the stack frames themselves are not garbage-collected?

In C#4.0, apparently you can declare JOption as interface NOption<out T> { ... } such that NOption<Mysub> is a subtype of NOption<Mysuper>. Still messy to read, though, and C# has ?-types anyway.

"your only goal should be" or "I want you to"? Perhaps they just want to be able to program in a decent statically-typed language with a GC and a JIT compiler and Gtk bindings?

There is bound to be some wrangling with the returned value if the case of "something was returned" needs different treatment from "nothing was returned" in the program's design. However, I agree that match perform_foo() with
