Last time I tried, I could only edit my posts while the other one hadn't answered yet. So: haha, but no.

So if Nokia decides to abandon Qt, the KDE foundation may release Qt under BSD license instead of LGPL? Does that comfort anyone?

Interesting. Apparently, this project on puts self-contained full-screen Qt apps onto Android machines via NDK [1]. However, I find nothing about Android integration on the level of Intents and Activities, not even whether that's planned. 1

How can Microsoft send a Nokia asset to the round file of patents? They didn't buy Nokia. Also, the performance of Moonlight says nothing about Windows Phone.

Fixed link: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7/activeqt.html Apparently they integrate Qt with .NET via COM, which AFAIR is not available on Windows phones.

I wonder what this means for Qt, given that the Windows Phone of today runs its apps in a CLR/Silverlight sandbox.

It wouldn't be the first time an app acts as a front-end to a foreign web service. Take all those editors which save to Dropbox, for example.

Judging from their websites, I. Vodafone's unlocking page explicitly mentions their CallYa prepaid offers and an outdated brand of "VPA" mobile phones and an "MCC" starter pack[1]. There is no sign of a page for the millions of people with

I'm aware of the 1EUR contracts (I live in Germany). I was just surprised that most phones in such contracts were supposed to be netlocked. I've bought most of my mobile phones of the past on eBay to use with my prepaid card. I've seen Voda

A C++ framework on top of a mobile OS in which most interesting things happen in the Dalvik VM? What for?

Locked as in "locked to one network"? Except for prepaid 20EUR-phones and perhaps the iPhone, which phones in Germany come locked?

I'm surprised that none of the efforts listed seem to target hypervisors like Xen or KVM. A few weeks ago, Azul's VM was on HN, and its GC benefits from tight integration with the virtual memory system.

Agree. As for the proxying: Vodafone uses a transparent proxy on their UMTS network[1], other mobile companies might, too. 1. http://www.yetanotherblog.com/2007/08/20/vodafone-transparen...

As the Dropbox clients talk to Dropbox servers instead of directly to S3, Dropbox can just transparently migrate their data to a storage facility of their own when they decide that that has become cheaper than S3.
