Is Arrow good for text data or does the columnar format lose its benefits when dealing with lots of arbitrary length strings?

The key is to catch the people who buy stolen bikes in bulk. The thieves need somewhere to fence the bikes, without that they'd be stuck trying to unload them on the street. Years ago in Toronto they arrested a single person who had wa

Did something important change in Arrow 3.0 in terms of working with text data? Is Arrow good for text data in general? I think I'm missing some context needed in order to be impressed by this post

I'm running 11.2.1 on a 2018 MacBook Pro i9. Should be sufficient to swipe desktops, you'd think.

My biggest gripe with the Big Sur update is that it's now incredibly slow to swipe between desktops. It used to be responsive and now I need to wait 5-6 seconds before anything happens.

There's a lot of stuff I want to know about that I don't know where else to find out about it, and much of this is outraging. For example, a lot of my Twitter feed is people pointing out how the Canadian media misrepresents events

I check Twitter to learn what I should be outraged about. I literally say to myself "I wonder what I should be outraged about today?" and then lo and behold, Twitter tells me. I don't know where else to get that information.

Would really love to see first class support for Javascript/Typescript for data visualization purposes. The columnar format would naturally lend itself to an Entity-Component style architecture with TypedArrays.

I'm curious what sort of NLP use cases people are solving. How are people finding business value in these models and pipelines? We have looked at a number of uses and have found it hard to make a case for ROI. Wondering what's bee
