I’m not trying to “resolve their issue”, I’m casting doubt on the OP’s story as presented.

I had the same reaction, but upon reflection, the reject/filter actions themselves aren’t what’s safe, it’s the usage of functions that accept unsanitized input and safely wrap the SQL that’s going on here.

I’m really confused. 1. There is no quick action to report as spam, so how is it even being triggered? 2. You regularly delete your conversation with your wife? 3. It seems implausible that Apple would disable someone’s iMessage account bas

Do Big Sur updates really take longer to install? I’ve been putting off installing a Catalina update on my laptop because my impression is they take ~45 minutes to install, which is what this article claims Big Sur updates take.

In Git you don’t have to actually commit, you can use the staging area. It’s something I do rather often. I’m going to make a non-trivial change and I’m not sure if it’s the right approach, so I `git add -A` first, make my change, and then

Vim is the only editor I’ve used that has a branching undo model. I know there’s a UX problem there but I don’t understand why more editors don’t support this.

The only reason you wanted to use “async” was because of micro-optimization on thread context switches?

Offsets from GMT/UTC are annoying when you have to deal with DST though, as it can be confusing to remember which offset applies at any given point in time.

I’m really hoping this rumor is false. I want the 13” M1 MBP scaled up to 16”. I don’t want an SD card, F keys, MagSafe, or any of the rest of that.

If future Rust versions do make semantic changes to existing language constructs, that will presumably only apply to crates built with the new edition, and crates built with the old will get the old semantics. If we’re talking ABI-level stu

Rust has “Editions”, which are points where they can make breaking changes as programs and crates (libraries) have to opt-in to the new edition, and you can mix crates from different editions. So if they need to make backwards-incompatible

A run-only AppleScript shouldn’t be fundamentally any harder to detect than any other form of compiled binary. Does this just mean that security researchers and antivirus tools simply haven’t paid attention to run-only AppleScripts as a vec

The way dispatch_time_t currently works, having the high bit (bit 63) 0 means based on uptime (or mach_absolute_time()), having bits 63 and 62 both set to 1 means based on the wall clock, and the addition here is having 63 set to 1 and 62 s

I was actually misremembering a bit. Sufficiently old versions of mach_absolute_time used a function called clock_get_time() on i386 (if the COMM_PAGE_VERSION was not 1). This changed in macOS 10.5 to a tiny bit of assembly that just read f

Do you have any insight as to why libdispatch added support for this new clock internally (in the last year or two), but did not expose it in any public API? In C I can manually construct a dispatch_time_t that will use make libdispatch use
