Is there a more defined set of memo types? I first expected a "protocol for thought" to have more thought oriented types and relationships. This just seems like Notes on IPFS. Am i missing something?

Elon said it, and it was what they wanted to hear. Like most information on the internet.

What other credible art instances are there in your eyes? I'm having trouble finding them, so search terms (or tools?) would be useful as well :) (I say credible, as in not just a tiny instance with no idea on longevity)

Not sure about that, but i'm mostly just interested in the local community. That said if the cost was a bit lower i was mildly tempted to standup a Blender community. However that seems like a lot of work, in addition to being a bit ex

The `create-exe` subcommand is interesting! For any language with decent cross compiling capability, is there a use case for `create-exe`? Eg i use Rust these days.. and i wonder if there's any use case for me to cross compile via wasm

TBH, i don't know entirely, it just "feels" like i want the instance i'm most interested in. Yes, local timeline is neat and a feature i'd like to be able to use, but the Social aspect of Mastodon (vs email) means i

I'd be curious to see Mastodon attempt to add features which help instances pay for hosting. Otherwise i don't see how this can survive. I'm sitting here waiting for a slot to open up on `mastodon.art`, but the same story wil

There's a new project to make IPFS very performant (within limitations of the protocol, ofc). They've got some really great goals, hope they succeed. TBH i love IPFS, and i wish i could get behind it and help.. but ever since they

Biggest one off the top of my head is in the category of developer productivity (which i pay a lot for already), and specifically it lets me use my editor of choice (Helix/Kakoune currently) while getting powerful new features. Huge hu

Yea.. i happily pay for several JetBrains tools and i'd love to pay for even more. I've got several problems that i don't want to spend time solving myself. Frankly as a developer i've got more problems than i can coun

Yup. Also as i mentioned i purposefully delete my accounts and rotate them to ensure i don't keep identity either. Frankly the lack of identity to me is the core of what makes or breaks a "social" network. Having no permanenc

I've not been on social media in .. ~8 years or so, if we ignore link aggregators at least. Even with link aggs, i've been deleting my accounts semi regularly on both HN and Reddit, and making several accounts, in an effort to dis

i suspect because there are so many bad managers. There's few tests to root out bad managers. The damage bad management is capable of is.. impressive, extensive.

Oh yea, i use it - i get it lol. But as someone who uses NixOS, for all it's flaws the community also is quite passionate and pushes out quite a bit of features, ideas, etc. There's little experiments in all aspects of the ecosyst

Yup, that's where i was thinking. My career is smaller startups and smaller businesses. I make enough, but a bigger name on my resume would help a lot. Especially since i'm not someone who enjoys or expects to do well in the class

Sure, but the "collapse" is terrible management here lol. Terrible, by the metric of his own inconsistent actions. To suddenly reverse the decision of accidentally laying off 80% of your workforce is hilarious. People aren't

Also imagine job postings. Ignoring Elon for sake of discussion, it would be a big a big boon for my career to work at Twitter.. but when 80% of the staff left? I'd be worried onboarding would be a mess. That i'd be handed several

It's kinda sad though because off the top of my head i suspect it's really difficult to actually lose your work. Ie between the fact that the content store stores.. well, all content, until it's GC'd, and the obvious ref

To a novice, how else would you do it? Ie i can self host most of this, but wouldn't i be hosting it on literally a $5mo VPS with a static IP to work around my homes dynamic IP?

I agree it's not necessary, but i like having it because it lets me separate what's going to be added before i actually commit. I still commit small, frequent. But i like `git add -p` to skip debug lines, hardcoded conditions, etc

I've wanted to do the same thing with my online activity as well. Chat logs especially. They tend to go into a void and finding an older log is weirdly difficult. I've wanted to log everything and then be able to apply better sear

This sounds cool, i'd love to use it but $30 feels a bit steep for my confidence in the output. If you could find a way to have a cheaper hook, i could see releasing $30 from my wallet. However not having that hook i struggle.
