Its not easy to utilise the full 500 GFlops, and this is for single FP precision, double FP precision only exists on the newer 200 series and throughput is much lower. But certainly CUDA is very exciting :)

You can't, just roll over limp and let the bear have its way with you :-)

What kind of unsound things?

One downside to CUDA is its massively powerful for single FP precision, but double FP precision performance is less than 1/10 of single FP performance. When precision is needed CUDA is much less useful, say you're running 10^10 simulations

He makes good points no doubt, but the article just seemed a little long winded to me, maybe the book is better.

I'm uncertain as to how your comment is upmodded so much with statements like this: 'Students graduate in to a world where connections, wealth, accident of birth and not talent determine your success in life.' This is clearly true everywher

So Google offers electricity and internet at the same time, why is this bad? Its not like they can enforce a monopoly, people will still have choice.

Its true they're doing this because they see the success of the Apple store, and its true this is scary, but I do hope for the sake of Microsoft that they succeed :P I say this because I'm not an Apple fan, and seeing people pay so much mon

generating random numbers seems right.. maybe they switch chips when accuracy matters, or maybe they don't care if some of the output gets mangled since the human can 'ignore' the mistakes.

If you placed your life savings in a car and the car blew up, would you be angry with the car? No hang on, that's not being rational, you can't blame the whole car, you must blame the faulty component that triggered the blast. Hell you'd be

Or if you're like me and find all the white backgrounds hurt your eyes, its simple to enforce black background / green text which makes reading much easier on the eyes, it also makes grey text easier to read.

I have to say the reason I spent so much time using perl is because of its ease in handling text and such strength in regular expressions, which are fascinating. I now use regular expressions when ever I can, and I think in most cases it sa
