Of course if you're doing it by trial and error on paper it is pointless tedium. But I'm sure that the point of doing these exercises were not bore you to death, but to really make you understand arithmetic so you can do most given problems

Big Tetrinet fan here, I used to play the modified version Tetrifast a lot(no new block delay) which is the same as this, you can lay blocks with speeds of 120+ ppm(pieces per min) depending on the keyboard repeat and initial delay settings
