You're forgetting about orientation (and altitude)? The observed position also varies a bit with air pressure and temperature, but iirc that's less than a few degrees. Anyway, you grab yourself a nice ephemeris library like skyfie

The first thing a 5 MB upx-compressed binary does when executed is uncompress itself to 15~30 MB of memory, right? So what does the on-disk binary size have to do with my L3 cache?

(They likely didn't fork it to make it standalone, you can do that from the config. The article doesn't mention that as a reason, either.)

Why use PIC if you can just write your own relocator? https://fasterthanli.me/series/making-our-own-executable-pac...

If you can allocate memory in a foreign process, I'd guess you could also change the permissions on that memory… So write first, then change to executable. (VirtualProtectEx looks like it would do that. Never used winapi, not sure.)

Nah. Trains e.g. sure are heavy, but they're also ridiculously energy efficient when it comes to moving stuff around. And yet they're also typically faster than any land animal. Building roads or tracks doesn't make sense for

It remains that easy until your Go/Rust project relies on libraries written in other languages, say C. (This holds true for JS/python/… too.)

Post offices may be many, but their opening hours make it essentially impossible to visit them if you're working. (Unless you want to visit during lunch break and take whatever your received home on your hour-long commute.)
