I think it's a mistake to be focusing on the 1 month time frame. You dug in because you valued the people you were working with, and thought that digging and giving your best effort were likely to be enough to pull you through. I've been

In case you haven't already noticed, fibromyalgia seems to be a catch all diagnosis. It's a set of symptoms, but they aren't often tied to anything. A few of the systems seem to remind me of my mother whom has recently been diagnosed with a

First pass, (the obvious stuff): 1. always view the source before posting 2. remove the basic css comments, or ... if the new coders need them, run them through a script that strips them out before copying the files to your web server 3. Mi

Since you asked, my guess is psychology. If it was at the top, then most people wouldn't bother reading the comment, as they already know the conclusion. TLDR is useful for and needed by those who are skimming.

I hope you realize that you likely have coworkers reading this, and able to determine who you are based on timing and location (since others have already figured out who you work for). I don't think there is anything in here that you need t

You are going in based on faith. You should always get it in writing, if nothing else you are making sure that you are avoiding misunderstandings. It is required to be thorough, which is a sign of a good developer.

Getting the first job was the hard one. (911 with the post .com crash.) If you know what you are talking about, once you have a couple years programming experience, you can generally find something. In this case, the J2EE, Hibernate and S

It clearly depends on what you are looking for and their record. If they've created a couple successful startups, and left after they were successful, large and losing the startup culture, then that seems like a reasonable bet. If they jus

I'm right at the age he was talking about. Does 3.5 years at my first job sticking through two short-term paycuts to be laid off make up for the now (6 employers) that have followed? * 1.5 years, left after the group was split in half and I

Technically, the length of the days will average out. Longer in the spring and summer (when the weather is nicer for outdoor work), shorter in the winter. However, the number of snow days won't average out, but I doubt that is being factor

You can tell if someone is coming up to speed within the 60 to 90 days associated with most contract to hire jobs. What you can't tell is if they'll pass that 90 day mark, or if that is actually their peak.

Less risk / less reward. The last question is key. The start-up will probably drive me to achieve more, but would probably be tougher on the marriage and the rest of my life.

How often do you print 16"x20" prints, because only for this size you need 8Mpx? How often do you crop photos? Being able to take in more of the shot and focus in on the details is priceless. Granted, shrinking the picture to 1/4 size is

Great read, but I'm not sure I can honestly put an entertaining read above everything else. If you are reading Hitchhiker's, the "best books" of the "trilogy" are the 1st, 5th, and 4th. The 2nd and 3rd are relatively weak, but the 4th and
