The one thing that can be said about lockdowns is that it's not some obvious clear cut "it definitely helps a ton" type of thing. If that were true we should see nations and US states with strict lockdowns do much better th

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows the general compensation strategy for all the major tech companies. They don't pay based either on value added or cost of living (which is why compensation is higher in the Bay

What webpage that you frequently use takes up to a minute to load? I can't think of a single one I've used over the past year.

The developing experience I don't agree with. I find Android Studio (being essentially IntelliJ) so much better than xcode. I only use the built in emulator for smaller projects but what do you dislike about it? The things I miss in xc

I agree with your overall point but as a small nit: usually founders hold common stock, so they will get paid at the same rate as employees (bar "acquisition bonuses" and other similar things).

It seems like start-ups could catch up, at least somewhat, by offering more stock. Right now founders are still ending up with an order of magnitude or more stock than the first few employees. There are certainly situations where that mak

One of your pleasures, which is awesome for you. I wish I enjoyed cooking, but I don't, so if you've been through this a million times maybe it's time to stop assuming it's some universal joy?

For a lot of people assigning a "reasonable" cost per hour spent cooking results in cooking for yourself being more expensive.

This article is really weird, because the person in Dogpatch says they were granted OPTIONS not stock. So it's possible that this doesn't even touch on liquidation preferences and the strike price was just higher than the sale pri

Having eaten both the quantities really are that different. A typical American sub has much more sauce than a Norwegian sandwich has butter. Kalle's is so flavorful that you don't need a lot of it, but I agree it would be the most

Around 500kcals sounds about right. I wouldn't really call a single QP a big meal. I think your comparison to other subs is off thought. Depending on the meat of the sub you might be reducing protein, but the Norwegian sandwich definit

How expensive are you seeing? Paying someone on the order of $10 in total (fee + service charge + tip) for them to bring you your food can make a lot of sense if you consider the amount of time saved.

That all startup employees work 80 hour weeks for 50% below market salary is not something I think is true at all. I would like to see a source on that start-up employees (not founders) work significantly longer hours than other tech worker
