While there are certainly some nice features in Kod it has a long way to go before it offers some of the features that textmate does (e.g. snippets). With that said, I'm hoping Kod becomes a real alternative to textmate!

By that token graduate school is also an excellent place to meet future collaborators. If you go to a school that is decent, or better, you're surrounded by very smart and motivated individuals who will be looking for work within 4 years. Y

Over all the advice seems well thought out. However, I wonder how many bootstrapped startups spend more than 1K on a domain name. I realize that's not much for many, but for a student it's rather large.

In the article he stated that they're currently using Python, I wonder if they're using Django, Pylons or something else?

Knowing some of the content obviously makes it easier: I'm currently in a 4th year CSC networking class (helped with A and C) and it took me 10 minutes. I made a trivial error on B, which added a couple minutes!

You beat me to it! I was just going to comment that this was the office version of AirBnB! Hopefully there will be some Toronto additions.

It's extremely useful when tethered. I find that I tether for hours at a time and I'm happy to be able to make/receive phone calls.

30% of what was theoretically possible with thick film. I think this research is saying that what is theoretically possibly with the newer technology could be 10 times more.

I'm wondering if security was ignored, when introducing HTML5, simply because it isn't as sexy as adding new features? Removing XSS seems like a win to me, especially -- as Crockford points out -- with new technologies like web storage bein

Although this has been just my experience, Rails' convention over configuration means that there is minimal configuration needed to get a new app up and running. I have found that Django needs more configuration (then again I'm a Django nov

From the article you posted: "Blockbuster turned down the opportunity to buy Netflix for a mere $50 million, instead entering a disastrous home-delivery deal with Enron." Wow...

Out of curiosity, are people building their own for-fun-projects using .net or even Java? All I seem to hear are people using Python, Ruby and Javascript.

I'm super excited by this -- I have been reluctant to use SproutCore, but I have a strong feeling that Yehuda's contributions will change that. I love JQuery, but what I really want is something that can do a bit more, like SproutCore or Ca

I would certainly appreciate the sync functionality with Google Docs. On the other hand, most of the time I just use Google Docs -- I don't switch back and forth from desktop to Google Docs, like in the video.
