I'm curious whether you decoded the binary protocol/blob or have just been poking at the API (where just about everything is pretty convenient JSON). I've done the latter but haven't broken out my Ubertooth yet for the f

There's a lot of neat small x86 stuff, but a lot of it depends on whether you're going low power or not. If what you want is something like a Mac Mini but w/ higher end i7's your options are some Intel NUC or Gigabyte BR

One thing to note is that while Jawbone has a nice API[1] and summary data export, there isn't a way to access device/raw data. There does appear to be some reversing of undocumented API calls that provide some better resolution

The Fitbit Surge is coming out early 2015. Many Android Wear devices have optical HR (although accuracy is usually low). There's also the Adidas Smart Run, TomTom Cardio, and Mio Fuse/Alpha 2 on the sports world size. (they all us

Actually, I think the psychological weight of both notifications and infoglut in general is a very valid concern, but I think making crazy assumptions / rants is silly. Case in point, what if I told you not only can you turn off the no

I double-checked just to make sure, but even via the API, you don't get your minute-level data, only consolidated information. Fitbit of course collects and stores this information, and makes it available as a "partner feature&quo

Then why would you complain about getting alerts if they can be disabled? Or are you complaining about the idea of other people being able to get alerts because you don't approve of the concept?
