I use TM2 regularly and really like it for these reasons. My only real gripe, and why I might switch to ST3 at some point, is auto complete. TM technically has code completion[1], but I've never found it particularly useful compared to

I think the better option is to update the app until it starts getting worse, then switch to something better. If I was depending on a particular app to a point where losing feature X or Y would be any kind of disaster, I'd be actively look

Depends on what you mean by background. You can't use an iOS app while it is being updated (or in the queue to be updated), but you can do anything else. I'd call that a background update.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking. The points about charging apply to any electric vehicle, though, and that's where I have trouble seeing electric cars really taking off. The Tesla approach seems great if your only use case is up to

Did you read the whole post, or just the end? The TL;DR on this post is that without Android, iOS would be in about the same place they are now. Some other platform would have taken Android's place. The biggest difference would have been th

It also discourages developers from making high-quality apps. If I have to buy 5 different apps for $3 to find the one I like best, I've just given $12 to the developers of apps I'm never going to use again and the best app developer still

But it's Markdown instead of MediaWiki syntax. Markdown's got a lot of momentum right now, and for good reason.

Agreed. Also, as a long-time NetBSD user, I'd be much more interested in having a package manager that's as easy and flexible as Homebrew on NetBSD rather than running pkgsrc on my Mac.

I think the title of this article is a little misleading. It's easy to bash Craigslist over their dated (or lack of) style, but the problem with Craigslist really comes down to usability, which is not the same thing as prettiness. Craigslis

They've got to work within the law, and the law hasn't caught up yet. I'm sure this sort of thing will be sorted out eventually, but in the meantime a lot of small businesses will still get hurt or destroyed.

NewsBlur is an open source alternative that's worked great for me over the past year or so. Even if GR isn't destined to be shut down, NewsBlur's worth the switch just for the Intelligence feature.

Cool; I really like this idea. A couple of suggestions to make it even better: 1. Add icons for the available services in addition to the names. 2. Add an "Other RSS" button that gives the user an easy way to copy and paste the feed URL int

Sure, of course they want to minimize fragmentation. But developers have been making apps for the 3.5" (3:2) form factor since 2008. So continuing to make a 3.5" (3:2) phone alongside a 5" phone (either 3:2 or 16:9 or anything else) wouldn'

Buyers wanting a small phone or better one-handed operation could still buy a 4” iPhone, and people who want a large screen would finally have an iPhone as an option. If this is the case, why would Apple have increased the screen size for

I think it was clear long ago that Google+ is just Google, or at least it's what Google thinks their future is. It's easy enough to avoid Google+, though: just stop using Google products and services. There are plenty of great alternatives

I run NetBSD as a web server, but not for any good reason -- it's just personal preference. I ended up with NetBSD rather than one of the other variants because it's easy to set up as a Xen domU (instructions at http://wiki.prgmr.com/media

I can't believe that anyone really thinks Facebook, at least in anything close to its current form, will still exist in 20 years. It'll just be something we all nostalgically laugh about from time to time, just like AOL or Geo Cities.
