You're right - I basically timestamped the then-current version of the name into a hacker news comment :)

The automation is something you can do relatively easily with the IPFS libraries, API, or CLI. Ideally your approach to pulling the data from its source into IPFS is somewhat deterministic, so that you get de-duplication and generally more

> suffers terrible performance problems from the IPFS requirement of hashing Could you be more specific? We're aware of a good bunch of reasons for IPNS's varying performance, but hashing isn't one of them.

You can't easily interlink torrents in way that torrent clients could understand -- torrents are mostly just packages of data, not made to be a web. On your point about the gateway -- I've co-maintained the ipfs.io gateway for the

Yes it does -- IPFS will fetch from multiple peers at the same time. It's not terribly optimized yet for finding even more peers for content if it's already fetching from some, but it already does generally fetch from multiple at

Torrents don't have the concept of links at all, they're not a web. Also: Being able to inter-link any content-addressed data structures. With IPLD [1], you can link from an IPFS directory to a Bitcoin transaction, to a Git reposi

Yeah! Every question of "how would X work on IPFS?" boils down to data structures. An example of slightly different approach (a sharded index) is the wikipedia-on-ipfs experiment from last year: https://github.com/

You can use custom domains with any go-ipfs gateway, it'll transparently turn `Host: example.com` into `/ipns/example.com`. What Cloudflare adds to the mix is their infrastructure for automatic TLS certs.

Your comment just made me remember that T-Online and a few other german ISPs hijack NXDOMAIN responses and send you to their crappy search pages.

DNS hijacking happens all the time, every day - we just don't seem to unconditionally recognize it as attacks. Paywalls on airport/cafe wifis, nation-state censorship of individual websites, etc. :) I work on IPFS/libp2p and

More transports coming! IPFS is built on libp2p, and so far all available libp2p transports have been stream-oriented (TCP, Websockets, WebRTC, Onion, QUIC), but different types of transports are in the works: packet-oriented (UDP, Ethernet

Note this is nearly 2 years old already, and the Lightning work is still ongoing. It'd be really interesting to see where this Flare proposal went, and whether there are more routing proposals.

Objects in JSON are per the spec unordered, while the signature scheme here most likely relies on the order of the object's key-value pairs. Other data formats that are ordered, and serialize somewhat more deterministically, are CBOR,

Apart from the obvious js-ipfs and go-ipfs, check out ipfs-cluster and LivePeer. libp2p is actually meant to be pretty high-level so I'm not aware of more high-level libraries.
