I wouldn't say the societes were "insensitive to losses". It's just that anyone who expressed their views would be killed/imprisoned.

I'd say - set yourself a comfortable base by selling your time and talents (ex. by working as a programmer) and then, if you have enough spare time, do what you love. Going 100% after passion is as dangerous as going 100% after money.

It's not that hard - orienting your life around becoming rich is clearly a trap and, as for the remaining two options, it's better to make more money than less as long as the job doesn't suck too badly.

Seriously, THIS is the advice that you'd give to, for example, your son? Views like that (both the content and the form that was used to present it) are a great example for why lots of people see the techies as detached simpletons.

If it's only about employee retency and not about money, the solution is simple - just pay the employee enough for him to stay (counter the offer competition gave him). No need for illegal conspiracy.

The Law and Order (PiS) party is effectively about amping our influence in the region, in the spirit of old traditions. See the meddling in Georgia, bullshit acquisition of refinery in Latvia etc.

My guess is that, since Russia is no longer a top global power, this area is not a priority for the US now. Georgia lies in more strategically important (lots of oil around) and fragile region, while saving the Ukraine would be mostly a fav

You seriously believe that IT investment is the sole reason for large companies being more efficient? How about the fact that they can make large investments in general (for example, build a pipeline or a nuclear power plant), at the scale

My understanding is that web apps have some limitations that can be a show-stopper for scientific apps - for example, there's no way to gain an arbitrary access to file system (something that is easily doable with a signed applet), whi
