Considering Bitcoin is a blockchain based currency, and this is a blockchain based currency that isn't Bitcoin, it sure seems like a Bitcoin alternative to me. Perhaps you can elaborate on why you feel otherwise.

I don't think so. I am referring to something that allows you to scale your database cluster horizontally by adding more servers. ZEO appears to only support a single server.

The context the author is describing is clustered databases, does ZODB offer a clustering option that is equally as mature?

Great, let's change that. Letting ego drive everything does not seem like a good idea.

One way to do that would be to give a shit about what you're doing even after you switch careers.

I can't reply to your post further down the thread for whatever reason, but uber takes the whole $1 per ride "rider fee", not the $1 per mile distance fee. The driver gets 80% of the time + distance fees.

No, the way things work is that people name things whatever they want.

Actually as long as you include that "it might" part in there, you can say anything with confidence.

What problems do the parentheses cause you? They've always worked just fine for me and I notice no difference between the programs I can write in Scheme and the programs I can write in other languages.

Aren't IO Actions just a list of things to do and changes to make? I'm asking genuinely to try to understand the difference.

The deck of cards analogy is sort of getting to the anthropic principle -- the natural laws could have come out any number of ways, but most of the other shuffles wouldn't result in us being here to contemplate them.

Assuming the "someone" is the forgot password feature and not a person, this seems like a sound approach. It's basically using the site itself as a slightly clunky password manager.

I didn't see any .org files in that repo, do you have them available anywhere? I'd love to see specifically how it's done.

If you don't serialize the game through a single ref (or the equivalent) how do you get the consistent snapshot of the world to perform an operation on?
