I think citrus heavy juices have those adverse effects on medication (esp. grapefruit[0]), but they probably used a different juice. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grapefruit%E2%80%93drug_intera...

How smart do you want to go? I found that for my purposes all I needed was some occupancy sensor switches and plain old timed switches (exhaust fans).

There's an opt-in nativization feature for blueprints that did translate them to C++, but it was apparently brittle enough to be removed in 5.0

Definitely. I'm incredibly burnt out after being a stay at home dad for the past year, with the pandemic cautions a lot of support structures disappeared or became unreliable (older family watching the baby, finding a reliable babysitt

Same experience, I grabbed an 1800W induction cook top in January to test the waters for an inevitable range replacement. It has bubbles forming at the bottom of the pot before the normal stove even gets an empty pan hot. Since then it has

Probably not. I was waiting for my gamepass subscription to expire last week so I could renew using the Xbox Live Gold upgrade. I was constantly notified that my subscription was expiring soon , but never actually got a notice when it actu

If you have a baseball cap you can hold the brim (pointed down!) against the back of your neck and trim along it for something half decent :)

Heh. I'll never forget the first time I started an interview process with an automated online test with a "cheat tracker". What it ended up really doing was flunking me for alt tabbing to documentation...

That's fair, but you also don't usually get the luxury of telling the interviewer that you only studied the tree and graph problems so you won't be doing any dynamic programming questions they happen to ask.

Over the entire development of DF an afternoon or two to try out git or similar would have been a drop in the bucket. There's a lot of (useful!) ground between using flash drives and trying out a hot new version control workflow every

I'm not sure I'm ready to learn another language to be honest. After a decade+ of C++ it'd feel like driving on the wrong side of the road and I wouldn't blame any employers who didn't want to take a chance on that

Makes me wonder if I've too strongly tied my career to a specific language. However, right now it's not that I'm specifically a C++ programmer, just that the industry (gamedev) is largely C++. I'm sure in for it if that

Personally I was overly expressive as a kid and it irked me that people could so plainly read me, so over time I learned to tone down my outward emotions. Might have gone a little too far on that. Whoops.
