Great points, which I obviously failed to clarify! :) Regarding the architecture, I was thinking specifically of the mixed delivery of a whole new one (Metro/touch-driven) and the old/current one (classic Windows/mouse-driven). I've read qu

Do you have any facts on that? I'd love to hear stories and accounts of anything like that happening…

Thanks for the tip! Currently, I'm working on a startup I co-founded so I got my plate full. I wrote that article knowing that there are more people like me and because I just now found myself in a position to do what I love but spent some

Holy crap, I couldn't agree more. Thank you Benjamin! I just wrote a comment/follow-up from the flip-side perspective: someone wired to be a "Shit Umbrella" who is stuck in a world where you have to be a "rockstar coder" first – http://lev

Oh cool… I've always wanted to know how that works. Right? No. Anti-virus software is like drugs: they'll preload a little quality free thing on your new computer and then remind you (every two hours) when your 60-day trial has expired AND

That was not the point of my comment. It was a realization of how it came across (aka how I got here). My main point, however, and this in reply to your post (that I have no doubt it was honest and on the back of some tough thinking) was th

This sounds very "link bait-ish"… Why were you trying to write a game in Ruby to start with? You didn't "switch back to C++", you simply realized you were trying to use a wrench to tight a philips screw… -.-

So, "writing and publishing a book isn't easy so I'm charging you $50 for an e-book so I don't have to give up the work and percentage to a publisher that would make it available to you for $20". I don't stand by publishers but this seems t

And then there's iA Writer and their egotistic attempt to patent "Focus Mode"… Seriously: https://twitter.com/#!/iA/status/74588465953640448 Same problem: other apps used it because it's such a generic concept. They (always) say that it's

And I'm tired of the constant rebuke of a perfectly good soundbite by people that have no idea of the distinction of "idea" and "execution". Design and copy writing are as much part of "execution" as code is. They are also as technical as c
