I might, just might, ditch my laptop for a transformer prime running Ubuntu Mobile (or whatever it'll be called) if they do a decent job with their mobile OS. I assume it would be better as a tablet OS for a 'computer replacement tablet'.

Fine, but then you have two browser windows. I'm not used to that :P

I think they should add a maximize button to this window. Sometimes you just want to edit one email in full screen, and I don't think you should have to revert to the previous interface to do that.

What kind of app do you find yourself wishing for? The apps I use the most are the default apps, i.e. Calendar, Mail, Chrome, Reader (google version) and Google+/Facebook/Twitter.

Interesting design decisions although a lot seem to be simply based on OSX. However the user experience is lacking - it is very buggy.

Gaming is just time spent not hacking ;) I myself do need a break once in a while, but some people seem to never stop and/or just don't like games (anymore).

Well it is a disgusting site (an ad over the article, really?). I hate both Microsoft and Apple equally and I'm glad this one is gone from HN.

Oh, it's a trend? How often is scientific computing about pixels anyway? I'm willing to bet not very often. Most of the time the results are a bunch of digits, a few matrices at most - a configuration, a solution to a problem.

I'm going to argue that the real tablet UI elements developed by the guys at Canonical are the lenses (aka the dash), not the side menu. They are full screen, display large icons, allow you to implement a lot of features (e.g., see Music

Yeah, this is about the only reason I'd be interested in such an OS (the switch to a linux workstation with just a mouse/keyboard). I don't think Canonical has the manpower to produce a polished OS like Android Jellybean. Oh well, it'll be

Have to agree that this doesn't prove anything. It is only one local contest. The title is very misleading.

I agree about the philosophic ideas. Everyone will probably figure out something different ;) I don't think playing this game with accelerometers would be as fun, they are so imprecise it would end up frustating (to me at least).

This is silly, you are telling me that my way of living sucks and I should change it. I enjoy this stuff, reading articles, stories. I don't read news papers or magazines, this is how I get my information and news.

Implying Google sells subpar tablets - I disagree with this statement. I believe Jelly Bean is a better OS than iOS5 for tablets (idk about iOS6, but I'd be willing to say it still holds for that one as well). On the hardware side, all you

For me, the tablet clearly does not replace a laptop for serious emailing and browsing. However, it's perfect as a window to the internets. I read my RSS feeds on it, check my facebook, browse some hacker news (although I still find clients

I use a nook touch, and I stopped using the mechanical buttons after I realized how nice it is to just tap the screen instead. A tap on the left side means back, tap on the right side forward. Not that hard, and feels really nice. I found s

Corruption and incompetence is widespread in the Russian police force. I doubt they will get into trouble for this. If they keep threatening everyone who voices their opinion like this, won't Russia face an exodus of their intellectual elit

I use Latex, and with some tinkering you can render your documents to both PDF and epub. The problem would be with designers and people working with tools that are not as flexible as Latex.

Most stuff in Linux looks crappy if you play too much with the DPI setting. Hopefully the Linux devs will start taking this into consideration.
