Google are killing their own product. I have deployed apps for over 30 clients, and now I think it's the time to look for alternatives. Perhaps Amazon can introduce something to fill this gap ?

Yes, Facebook used to do that. I had to scrap it once and was surprised by randomly changing classes around input fields. but who cares, no one can beat Xpath :)

Perhaps they were afraid of legal issues ? scraping for fun is okay, but if you would like to build a business most people would prefer to abide by the terms of use and still use the API. remember the story of Pad Mapper ?
