That's well and good for safe Rust, but unsafe Rust is hard as hell to audit because nobody _really_ knows what the rules are. We're kind of still figuring out how to write unsafe Rust safely. Have a look at the "too many lin

I didn't really get the example, futex is itself a syscall, so how does implementing mutex in terms of futex help you create a "fast userspace" mutex? The example presented looks to do almost nothing in userspace. Am I missin

Not OP, async drop isn't a thing, but you can still have a drop guard in an async function. It's not as nice as having async drop obviously, because you can't run any await-able code inside Drop, but it still works for some

There's a false equivalence here between proof of work consensus and actually doing work. 3D renders aren't done by a bunch of independent render farms in competition with each other where their work is discarded if they aren'

I'm not trying to crap on upsampling, it's going to be critical to get decent fidelity in modern games. I think you're wrong about frame rate though. I find 30fps unplayable. Also, people have had a taste for it. They have be

I don't think this is using a DLSS technique of AI upsampling, but rather a more traditional algorithmic approach like AMD's FXR uses. I'm not saying upsampling isn't good, it's going to be absolutely critical to ge

Yeah it's really cool, the problem is it barely runs at 30fps and there is no way in hell it's going to run at 60fps on a console. I never had a ps4/xbone, skipped the last console cycle and stayed on PC then recently got a P

If you stay strictly in the procedural/OO paradigm then sure: it's just a new std lib and syntax. When you jump to functional, logical, or more esoteric paradigms things start to get pretty different. Of course if you've alre
