If the socket is already in use the .bind call will fail to unwrap() and the program will panic and exit. It's generally considered bad form to use unwrap() (and by extension panic) in production code, but for examples where you just w

The employees didn't edit anything. They were just banning certain words from being posted. For example "teen" was a word not allowed to be posted. The senate was able to turn what is supposed to be a tool to censor certain t

This isn't the same concept as structural typing I don't think, but purescript has something called extensible records that quite similar to what the previous poster describes: function :: forall a. { f :: String, g :: String | a

Do you know what a panic is? C will actually read arbitrary memory, Rust won't, that's the difference. We're talking about a situation where the length of the array is not statically known and you access it out of bounds at r

From the specific example you're presenting, I don't see how you couldn't just have a Garnishable typeclass, that implements garnish differently for the FingerFood or Cocktail types. The comment that FP isn't nice in the

There's a wide berth between inconvenient, which is subjective, and not supported. HOF's exist in Rust, could the ergonomics be better; that's up for debate.

It's true it's not nearly as ergonomic as haskell to pass around functions. You don't necessarily need to box the closure up on the heap in order to store a bunch of functions in say a vector though, it just needs to sit behi

Rust has first class functions and thus has higher order functions. Iterators have a bunch of higher order functions, map for example: let a = (0..10).map(|x| x*x).collect::<Vec<_>>();

the idea is you use a mnemonic generator to pick the words. The fact that "100 most commonly used, make up 50% of written words" (a dubious statistic, source?) is irrelevant. Here's a mnemonic generator I wrote in Rust http

Go is more verbose because it lacks a type system that allows generic programming, that seems like a very different kind of verbosity, than explicit error handling IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Go's type
