but in reality it's like two builds of the same OS with different features turned on (e.g. phone app vs split-screen support and such)

If you want to use geofenced features (while being outside the fence) you'd want to hide your location when your device checks it for the purposes of geofencing. Which is, I'd imagine, all the time.

this is still beyond me how EU treats iOS and iPadOS as two different operating systems. iOS was designated gatekeeper at the start of the whole DMA thing, iPadOS was just recently.

You'd also need to spoof mobile data, effectively run in airplane mode all the time

"Nothing to hide, eh? Write a post on a social network of choice detailing when are you not home, a photo of your key to the door, and a credit card details."

The login page works, yes.

I've never seen toggles show "what happens", they're mimicking the real-life toggle. Accent color means "I'm active" unless you're on an email newsletter subscription settings page, in that case bewar

Yeah, sadly. But really it's the best way to do virtual cards. If a bank doesn't offer these, next best thing is to go to the bank that does.

This makes sense and in the same time it doesn't. You're supposed to pay to use your infra, not theirs?

So this puts signal on par with telegram, not above? Am I missing something?

by leshenka 3y ago
You don't have to now too

can you expand on this?

Your browser doesn't give away this information. It's inconvenient in cases like yours but on the other hand it would be yet another signal in browser fingerprinting

Explain me this. As I understand, chatgpt is trained by dumping a huge amounts of text in it. It doesn't have a notion of "language", all it does is continues the series of tokens. Therefore all you need to do in order to tra

Can't believe they can't just re-flash the firmware, shouldn't it take like five minutes?

by leshenka 3y ago
See that's a problem. When you buy a license it should become YOUR OS.

But that's (+ AV1) about it. I wouldn't install edge just to test whether there are any files encoded with these codecs. (unless there are a LOT of media encoded in different ways e.g. youtube) Just test on chrome and keep in mind

Most of my grievances are related to mobile experience so I'm not sure why are you talking about mpv. I barely have any problems in desktop because issues like no pip and background play just don't exist there.

by leshenka 3y ago
You can't get .mp4 though. It's there somewhere inside YT app's persistent storage but there is no "share" button for it.

Premium is not available worldwide. I tried to trick google by creating an account using VPN in Europe. I even managed to subscribe for Premium. Even with an active Premium subscription Youtube app won't let me use its features such as

I used to live in a place with very crappy internet and watching youtube even in 360p was a no go. And youtube doesn't let you buffer entire video since 2012 I guess. I figured if I feed whatever I want to watch to yt-dlp and give it s

If major 3rd party Reddit client developers adapt and repurpose their apps for Lemmy backends, can it drive significant user base there?

Oh it's okay, it's a single-player game, it's not that you need any server capacity for that. Other than download servers but it's Steam's problem, not publisher's. ...right?

I guess you're negotiating it once when signing the contract and if you move closer/farther that's your business. Or re-negotiate.

the weirdest thing about x logo is that it barely has any "volume" of sorts. It's just three very thin lines (and two very tiny ones which I disregard) stylized as letter x. I use twitter every day but don't really care
