Making friends is a lot of work, can be uncomfortable, and it takes time. One cool thing about university is that there are lots of clubs you can join. I'd suggest you go find a club you're interested in and participate every week

What you're describing is a recent problem. I get it with GPT 5.2 on longer chats. They tuned something. It's much less a yes-man now but it's doing new annoying things.

I get that captcha at coffee shops all the time. I wonder if so many tabs refreshing at once hit a rate limit.

I haven't used StackOverflow hardly at all since ChatGPT came out. Unrelated to AI, I haven't really had a positive experience on StackOverflow in 7+ years. The way they aggressively close questions as duplicates despite the previ

I don't know. I wasn't that close to the project unfortunately.

At your size, I would think bringing payments in-house would be financially worthwhile. I worked at a company doing less than $1B in revenuesand we had our own payment processor integrations. It requires some work in each country/regio

I've gone through some shenanigans like with AWS. I now have a rule that I don't use any cloud providers where I can't get proper customer service which rules out the main big clouds.

Can you start on a library computer or something like that? I think some libraries also lend out laptops.

Here's the thing: It doesn't matter what you do. It matters what other people know you did. You've got to be a self-promoter to get places. You might get lucky occasionally and have a manager who does this for you, but you ge

I want something more gamified. I want to go on missions or complete challenges or something. Not just identity and log stuff.

I got super excited thinking this was for real birds. I would love someone to gamify birding.

I spent some time consulting over the last few years. So many companies are laying off their US engineering teams and replacing them with offshore teams. There used to be this notion that offshore meant lower quality but it doesn't see

I've seen AI successful used in big companies for improving matching algorithms and writing custom email alerts (as opposed to a single template). I think the good uses of AI are places we don't even realize AI is being used.

I don't personally see much audience for non-JS websites other than headless web crawler. It's good for SEO but otherwise why bother? I actually intentionally put some content behind JavaScript because AI crawlers see enough of th

Am I the only one who doesn't care about AI in my IDE? I use AI to assist with coding but I don't like it being that integrated.

If you have to use GCP, it's probably safer to go through a third party reseller than being a customer directly. Those resellers are big enough to get customer service.

My takeaway from stuff like this is don't use the big clouds unless you're big enough to get proper customer service. It's too risky. Especially when you can get false flagged by AI or some heuristic.

Why would they learn current tech if their current job doesn't require it? Switching technologies for an existing large project is a huge risky endeavor, so sticking with your tech stack is usually the right move.

It's true for things other than developer tools. I built a free utility that became popular and people started asking for more features. I spent several months working full-time on building out improvement and put 10% of the new featur

This doesn't make sense depending what it is. I've shared stuff on Show HN with absolutely zero response. I've found Reddit to be much better. Found relevant communities and share.

I agree. It takes the user out of their intended action (using your product) and puts them somewhere distracting (their email). I've also seen it confuse users who aren't used to it. It's great from a tech/security persp

That's technically how ads work in most places. You view ads instead of paying a fee. You see this in the context of free apps, free news articles, etc.

Virtual cards are also nice for setting up rules and alerts. I can setup a virtual card for a single merchant, then tell it to alert or block charges over a certain threshold.

A virtual card is just as legitimate as a physical card. The numbers are just account ids basically. In my business, I setup virtual cards for many vendors. Sounds like you're trying to detect fraud. There are fraud detection platforms

I haven't found these fractional sites to be very useful for development work. The rates are low and the few dev jobs already have 100s of applications.
