It's a royal pain if you're logging into stuff like AWS or various other development tools because they seem to have shorter sessions. I rarely have to use 2FA for my personal things but I have to use 2FA about 10 times as I start

Assuming you're interested in embedded software (pure electronics is it's own thing): Unless you're already a competent C++ developer, I would start with getting either an ESP8266 or ESP32 and making some simple projects in A

So far I've been finding myself bringing product marketing to companies that don't already do it (they bring me in to improve engagement and product marketing is the low hanging fruit). I really don't want to get pigeon holed

#1 is something I have a hard time with. I'm a developer who became a generalist and my specialty is not one particular thing. The corporate world wants to pigeon hole me into being a product manager, I'm only average at that. Be

I've driven part way up Mt Washington in my car. It was pretty neat seeing the landscape change so dramatically. Unfortunately they closed the top part due to bad weather. For anyone interested in this train, this is a decent video abo

Slack is just as bad in the browser. My internet was slow the other day and Slack took a minute to load. I opened up the network inspector to see what was going on and one of many things I discovered is that their vendor.js file is over 20M

I like opinionated boilerplates. I can adapt to working in different ways. Having someone else decide a reasonable architecture is something I don't mind at all.

It might be my Radio Shack multimeter I bought in 2003. I recently got rid of my TI-89 calculator that I bought around 2000.

There are several different audits a company might need to do. Having a Chinese SaaS as a vendor would definitely prevent me from passing certain audits and doing business with certain customers. At minimum, it would be something I have to

I worked at a company that changed the retention policy for email and other communication to 12 months. I instantly lost tons of old notes. I started saving important emails to Google Docs so I could still reference. It was very annoying.

I wouldn't use a Chinese SaaS simply out of fear that it might cause one my customers to not use my service. There are many Chinese things I would use but not SaaS software.

Ask for forgiveness not for permission. Do option #1. If you get in trouble, claim ignorance, and try for option #2. If that fails, try for option #3. Odds are they would never know or care even if it's against policy.

In the US, as I understand it, you can go through a process (not free) to get your arrest record expunged and then you can legally answer no to that question. Still messed up but there is a path at least.

Unfortunately in this case, the guy getting punished didn't do anything wrong. It's the woman who's Walmart account was hacked who messed up.

The old Google Now feed was amazing. Showed me where my car is parked. Told me when to leave to arrive places in time. Pulled up my flight details automatically. Now it's just a bunch of click bait articles.
