From working and talking to folks at the IRS, the have much more first hand knowledge of how the federal government fails in spectacular ways (try going through the hiring process). They lament the government and it’s problems more than any

At a fertility clinic they had paperwork that asked my employer, social security number etc. I asked if this was necessary, as I was paying out of pocket. They firmly said yes and asked me to fill it out. Guess who works for $State Fertilit

What agencies have you applied for? I’m in process with 4 right now and none have asked me for my personal beliefs. All my interviews focused on deescalation, using appropriate force etc.

I’m sure there are a lot of complexities, I think the general shape of the solution is the same. Another poster (perhaps you?) mentioned that luxury cars do sign CAN packets. Anyways I’m not in this industry but work on SPIFFE and see simil

All property crime crosses the acceptable social contract and has the opportunity to become violent crime. I don’t see the issue with comparing them: if my property isn’t safe and I’ll be battered if I defend it, that’s the same signal.

The solution is signing packets with PKI and verifying them on receipt. Nothing says you can’t flash firmware to add new packets etc but the CAN bus couldn’t be spoofed unless you had the private key.

I suppose there is a universal ordering as a function of your position in the universe. Given that it’s impossible for an observer to be in two places where relativity differs, that simplifies to “there is exactly one universal ordering of

I’m down to do security contracting. I’m in a similar level of experience as the poster (HTB, CTFs) and work in Security engineering. I’d like to try more typical cybersecurity work, like malware analysis or offsec. What companies / ti

This is common, line managers are not involved in layoffs to avoid any notion of bias. It’s systematic, algorithmic and the exception process occurs at the Director level.

Technically I think you would shrink the bottom line, since profit is (top) revenue - (bottom) expenses.

I’m mostly referring to federal law enforcement, I’m not familiar with local police suitability (but I’m guessing it’s not nearly as well resourced as the feds).

This is absolutely not the case. Law enforcement background checks are more intense than clearance, and drug use policies are very black-white. The general principle is that you must be unimpeachable such that your testimony is valid in cou

This is my experience exactly but I was remote from work during covid, with a newborn in the other room and no one in the house was sleeping. Took awhile but things got better. Just in time, we have another on the way.

I’m interested in it for a hybrid VR-AR for flight sim cockpits. The Varjo Aero is used for this, allowing you to build a cockpit replica and interact with it via pass thru but still using VR for outside the cockpit.

You need 3 remote (contract) pilots, the plane only responds to a quorum of synchronized inputs. Then you can drive the price down as you let them fly multiple planes at the same time. Perhaps even a gig economy play here.

That’s generous. I find it weird and creepy, interestingly the Hololive kids are exclusively young women with childlike affects. It’s not fooling anyone to pretend like this is normal self expression.

Does that imply an effective limit of $150k or so? I've definitely had capital gains tax higher than that.

The reality is that RSUs are a better deal because of the unlimited upside. If my RSUs go to zero, I jump to another company and reset my cost basis- there is actually little risk here beyond the first year lock up.
