It turns out the setting to disable statistics is a bit tricky to get to. On the latest version of iOS, I found it at Settings>General>About>Diagnostics & Usage.

Just wondering: if I paid the $99 bucks to become an Apple Developer, could I write and then self-sign a tethering app that would run on my phone (without jail breaking)?

I'll try the devkit. Right now, I do see two mounted devices (phone and sd).

It's not a terrible idea, but our Public university system is crumbling on 3 billion a year and Brown wants to invest 98 billion (an average of roughly 4.6 billion a year) on a train. Sounds like a bad long term strategy to me. Then again,

Cool, but why can't I see this hierarchy when I plug my HTC Droid into my Mac? I certainly don't see a /data/data directory, even with ls -a. Do I have to root the thing?

I thought the most fascinating thing was the strong and effective language regarding foreign affairs (i.e. the article about China): "The sun set upon a scene of fire, rapine, desolation, and butchery unrecorded in modern history", "Innocen

Another very good essay, quite cognate. "Lost in the Meritocracy," http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2005/01/lost-in-... , by Walter Kirn a few years back.

I like this technology, but it's really a rare occasion that I've taken an out-of-focus photo. In fact, I can hardly think of one out of nearly a thousand pictures I've taken the last year, except for a few where I've used manual focus. Are

I found the article to be really flimsy. What about costs associated with Apple buying tons of servers the last few years (for iTunes, for iCloud)?

If I remember correctly, it took forever for Adobe to port to OS X in the first place, and even then, they were running on Carbon for much longer than a lot of other major apps. It sounds like they have a really hard time letting go of lega
