Yes. But Whisper's word-level timings are actually quite inaccurate out of the box. There are some Python libraries that mitigate that. I tested several of them. whisper-timestamped seems to be the best one. [0] [0] https://

Yeah, this isn't really helpful for her to learn English. This is more when we watch The Anatomy Lab, or BBC's "The Incredible Human Journey". She'll already be asking me a lot of questions about the content. So if

Would love to migrate from Evernote to Obsidian. But one part of what I use Evernote for is dumping PDFs in there for later reference (invoices, letters, etc.) and having the OCR do its magic for them to be discoverable again even without m

Runpod Cloud GPU is ~0.60 $/hr. 16 GB I think. (Not the serverless pods, mind you. Those are ~ 4x more expensive.)

Yeah, I mean, wasn't the worst year to be alive some year after a volcano eruption? So, let’s geo engineer this against global warming and hope our calculations pan out…

Exactly. And you rarely see machines from Germany on vast. Might as well run a data center in Bermuda. [0] [0] https://www.royalgazette.com/general/business/article/202307...

It depends on your local energy prices and your internet speed as well. It may actually be cheaper and faster to spin up a cloud instance. I bought an 80 core server to do some heavy lifting back in 2020. It doesn't even have a GPU, bu

When you look at the chart, it's odd that the temperature rise started only in the 1980s. Or at least what you can see in the chart. People have been burning wood and coal for centuries. The industrial revolution happened in the 19th c

Congrats for having judges who actually read the citations. As a lawyer in Germany, I find that most judges will barely read the body of a brief, let alone look up citations.

I cringe every time my iPhone shows me my “screen time”. Apple posing as the benevolent kindergardener. When in truth, they try to get their devices hooked into every single part of your life. Like a confectioner counting calories for you.
