possibly, but I think wanting to "win" and "make money," while providing a decent service is often a decent enough goal. After all, we are talking about group coupons, deals and lead generation -- not a cure for cancer.

Success? Being first to execute the idea in a strong fashion first. However, there are now a considerable number of competitors, and I don't see many potential barriers to entry.

What you are talking about really isn't a competitive industry, it is more of "rent-seeking" behavior where private enterprise extracts tax-payer dollars to subsidize their "business."

Just like the "online tax industry" is fighting to keep the IRS and state tax services from offering direct online tax filing. I'd likely still use tax-prep software, but I'd like the option to file directly to the irs without an intermedia

I think it has more to do with the fact goog isn't making a significant amt of money, and growth has flatlined. Beyond that goog is STILL in Hong Kong, and mainland China still has access to the .hk site AFAIK
