It's not happening by chance, there is a bug somewhere. From what I skimmed the package should just call to the js runtime's crypto.randomUUID(). I think it should always be properly seeded. I think it is extremely unlikely that t

Another way to phrase this is that guarantees can impose constraints that are overly limiting. Having said that, the parallel with ML seems to be bit of a stretch. What exact high level guarantee is given up by being probabilistic?

How is the battery life? Rechargeable sure is nice, but the older models lasted forever on 4 AAAs (at least my TI-83). That's one aspect that would justify the low processing power for today's standards for portable computing devi

This seems to be sloppy wording, with the intent of "we only offer the bounty under these terms". Maybe my interpretation is too charitable.

I wonder if "if you contact us... you automatically agree" stands in court. That's just ridiculous.

And LLMs perform when you prompt them.

I feel uneasy about this after the xz story.

Recently I tried out Brompton Bike Hire in London for a week. Can recommend the bike, and the price is reasonable. The bikes are hired from automatic storage lockers, which makes sense as a concept. The app is atrocious though, and I had a

Did you pin the package's priority or just apt removed it?

It can't be. It's the same confusion as "email address normalization" being wrong (for example when gmail ignores dots when mapping an address to an inbox). It matters where the normalization happens, and server-side beh

I don't think it's incorrect for distinct paths to point to the same resource. Of course you shouldn't assume that in a client. If you are implementing against an API don't deviate regarding // and trailing &#x

I am surprised I don't hear about vim/neovim/vscode plugin supply chaim attacks. Feels like a similarly lucrative target to language package managers.

You can't distill out pure methanol, as at the boiling point of methanol ethanol also has some vapor pressure, so you distill a mix. However above that boiling point you distilled out all methanol (with a mix of ethanol), and the remai

sudo is not the only thing that prompts for password in the terminal. There is at least passwd and ssh. I value ctrl+U a lot more for password prompts than the visual feedback, it's even used by GUI on Linux.
