Let c_{n,m} be the expectation value of the number of remaining half pills starting from n whole pills and m half pills. Then we get the following recursion: c_{n,m}=n/(n+m) c_{n-1,m+1} + m/(n+m) c_{n,m-1} Boundary condition: c_{0

That's not strictly true. Undefined behavior includes unsuccessful compilation as well [0]. But for this the compiler has to prove that the offending code is executed every time the program is executed. I think compilers don't bot

Who knows? This could make a nice little experiment. 1. Leave the antenna connected 2. Unplug the antenna, leave the connector unterminated. 3. Terminate the connector with ball of tinfoil. 4. Use a proper impedance matched te

I guess it's much less likely if the exposed antenna connector is properly terminated.

A~N(0,1) and I~Bernoulli(1/2) are independent random variables. Then both X1=A and X2=(1-2I)*A are Gaussian random variables. They even have 0 covariance but they are not independent. Also X1+X2 is not Gaussian.

The problematic commit reduced the number of disk IO at bootup which resulted in starving getrandom() from the necessary entropy. If disk IO is already considered a reliable source of entropy then there is no reason to not actively exercise

It's actually a great idea, assuming that background light levels are properly taken care of and the camera is well calibrated to a linear colorspace. Unfortunately "pixels" don't really blend linearly when transferred o

What would be the utility of such a constructor? You can just initialize const objects with regular constructors. How are these objects not "true" const?

I have a T420s but with an optimus configuration. The dedicated GPU is pretty much useless because of thermal throttling and yes, even the i5 alone is often enough to go into throttling territory. This is after repasting and thorough cleani

Probably. AFAIK GFI measures the current difference live and neutral, so a current between live and ground (as in the third slot) would trip it. Imagine if someone forms a path for current between a "grounded" metal case and live.

pdfsig from poppler-utils is vulnerable to SWA. I expect any poppler based pdf readers (that actually bothers with signatures) to have the same vulnerability. edit: mutool sign is also vulnerable to SWA.
