I have no idea. I was pointing out that the transparent huge pages documentation is not authorative for requesting huge pages explicitly with mmap. I didn't find any documentation that would indicate that explicit huge pages didn'

You don't actually need transparent huge pages, but maybe you can work with explicit huge pages.

AFAIK CUDA offers unified memory which basically works with virtual address space and page faulting in data from main memory. There is also IOMMU in general.

Apart from sequencing rules, a[i] may also differ in value category. If one of the operands is an array rvalue then the result is also rvalue. *(a + i) can't propagate value category this way, dereferencing always produces an lvalue.

AFAIK the fastfloat benchmark is a single translation unit anyway. Whole program optimization and LTO buys you nothing there. GCC and clang are both conservative with instruction set withou march option. I'm often disappointed by MSVC

The combination of stuff like char*** and the lack of const usage by some C code is really horrible. Like, yeah, maybe you do need something like char***, but do you really need that to be mutable at every single indirection level? But even

In C compound literals have a relatively long lifetime compared to C++ temporaries. With these lifetime rules it makes sense that they are lvalues, although I like C++ rvalues (especially prvalues) more. https://cigix.me/c17

It's not enforced. It's a promise. If you mark a non-pure function pure, then you are going to have a bad time. I would also be reluctant to mark any function pure that takes pointers as arguments (directly or indirectly).

There is one place where purity is effectively enforced: constexpr functions called in constexpr context. It's a little bit limited, as it's only enforced for compile time evaluations.

I'm not sure. If software copyright didn't exist, then source code would still be treated as trade secret. Code obfuscation would be used to make reverse engineering harder and source code wouldn't be provided, which is not a
