I think the correct answer is that it is mostly bogus, but likelihood based statistical methods mostly work for well-behaving distributions, especially for Gaussian. Maximum likelihood estimation has some weird cases when the distribution i

If they spent $100M and get an asset out that is worth $30M then they have a loss of $70M. Lighting the $30M shouldn't count as additional loss that they can write off, IMO.

I was replying to wood being a carbon sink being relevant. You are right that the point of comparison should be on the whole process on both sides. Wood being a carbon sink is a component in that, but I doubt that it's hugely relevant.

I wouldn't be surprised if turning a piece of wood transparent would have orders of magnitude more carbon footprint than just burning it.

No, the relationship is directional. You can reinterpret a pointer to an integral type to a pointer to unsigned char and read the underlying bytes. The other way around is UB.

I think the main problem is that the failure of a small section is a catastrophic failure of the whole system.

What I do is I delete the local master branch. I typically can't push to master, or I don't want to work on master directly anyway, so why have a local mutable master branch? So I only need to update origin/master, which I ca

It should be one-time, yes. Maybe it shouldn't be rare though. But your point still stands as the TXT records should be ephemeral. So I don't think this deserves the downvotes. At least ACME's DNS challenge protocol is design

I don't think it's the job of the regulation to cover every possible corner case and to codify the exact behavior of AVs in law.

Most of the sin of iostream is having a humonguous overload set for operator<<. AFAIK it's not too bad to just compile the stream headers, but the overload resolution for `std::cout << anything` is expensive.
