a world-changing idea does not need to be not-for-profit. this is one of the biggest misconceptions out there -- an idea that solves a problem for a sub-group of humanity, does not need to run under an NGO/non-profit umbrella.

the real thing the iPhone loses is exclusivity and thus has lost some of its luster -- its not the only player in the market anymore with an app store, touch screen, and all the other goodies

keep going as long as possible as you can without VC -- in fact, you need to plan to do this and not bank on getting funding. out of curiosity, with $500k how will you "expand your coverage and services" in a way that won't currently happen
