I find it hard to drive through the Tenderloin without thinking “there is no fix for this”. Once someone has been homeless and into drugs for long enough, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to get them to fix their lives (if possible at

As a cat owner who’s really bonded with his cat, this feels rather obvious to me. When he lays on my chest and stares into my eyes at the end of a day where I was gone a long time it’s pretty easy for me to feel like there’s more there.

Isn’t this kind of a social and cultural phenomenon though? It can’t be explained by means of a physical infection right, so it makes sense they have to reach for potential social or cultural answers?

It’s not? They’re recklessly messing up implants, forcing them to be killed. There’s no benefit to that, only needless suffering and death. Humans go to war with each other and use nuclear weapons, does that mean murder, torture or human te

Humans decide that humans are worth inherently more than other life forms. Okay.. why do we get to decide? Why do we rule this massive universe? You’re making a statement of morality as a statement of fact, it’s absurd.

Okay, let’s strap you into a chair and drill into your head against your will and then subject you to hours of tests only to realize it’s the wrong implant so we just have to kill you. Sound good?

I’ve noticed I don’t get tired after lunch since going vegetarian, even more so as I move towards plant based. Regular exercise will help too I think.

I think it was just sheer repetition. I had to switch back to VSCode a few times a week to be productive on a time crunch but other than that I just had the mouse enabled and scrolling and tried to not use the mouse as much as possible. I w

If it's anything like Phoenix, it's just websocket based on the client (iOS device in this case) which has a DOM diffing mechanism to patch in updates from the Elixir backend. Short answer: no the client side is not elixir I suspe

I got bit by this on my 13-inch first gen M1. I have a three monitor set up, and didn’t check the specs because I assumed basically any laptop worth it’s salt today would support that. It’s honestly a pretty shitty product choice in my opin

How is that not locking people out also? It’s the same concept applied with a different metric. Not to mention raising prices broadly hurts locals and not just visitors? Entry fees are a pretty simple solution, I hardly imagine it being bur

I wasn’t too sure based on the docs: What parts of tokens does the server store in the Database (everything but the raw long token I think?) What is sent to the consumer, and what do they need to send with the request?

Wouldn't this just be a matter of adding a component at the page level which calls the Phoenix Socket function? This should be framework agnostic since the post you linked above just works with React.

Really excited about the transitions (edit: I mean batching) for state updates. I always found it so frustrating that updating 3 different state values in a callback would cause 3 separate renders.

I think people are going to find way to criticize Chesa here, and there probably are some valid ones, but at the core I think he's right. It seems obvious to me that you need to get to the root of the problem if you care about solving

I’m so frustrated. I bought the 13inch M1 in July, and was bummed it only supports one external display and has only two USB-C ports. This makes it pretty frustrating to use at my workstation (can't use all my monitors, hard to connect
