I'm with you on your second statement, not on the first. VR will be clearly more than just movies. And AR is far from just for smartphones. Granted HoloLens isn't ready and might not be that great, but it has so much more potentia

One negative of Backblaze is that they still don't support Linux. I'm not a huge Linux user, but I'd like to have the option, otherwise I'm seriously dis-interested in the service. The more open/options the better.

If you see the jump Intel made by switching to HT you wouldn't think it to be a bold claim. Look at the first gen i7 compared to it's predecessor. So, AMD added SMT, 3D transistors, improved caching, etc. But yeah, more details wo

Even in developed countries people are driving their cars way over 300,000 km. Some cars are capable of over 482,803 km without major repairs needed. The Ford Crown Victoria comes to mind, the one used for police cars and taxes. I just rea

I live in the US, have lived in the following states: CT, NY, LA, and now CO. Almost all of my parents cars have over 210k miles on them and they're still going. My car has 114k miles on it and it runs perfectly, if all goes well it s

They've offered it for a while I think? It's a pre-paid, look in Other monthly plans. It's pretty hidden, I don't think they want everyone to know about it. Also can be Walmart only, but I think you can do it online jus

Yeah, I don't know how they do this, but Google says they have pre-approved WiFi hotspots the phone will automatically connect to. From this, I wonder if security will be a concern for some of these hotspots.

Well it seems I don't use 'distro' properly. I guess it only concerns Linux, but I personally don't see any reason it can't be used for OS flavors in general. Hell, the website distrowatch includes BSD and everythin

I didn't realize NetBSD was playing the catch up game with what other distros have had for some time, like ZFS. That's disappointing.

Interesting, doesn't work in Chrome or Firefox for me. In Firefox you can't select anything. In Chrome you can select all, but nothing gets copied over; also the formatting of some boxes is fucked up.

What does Datomic have to do with a brief history of databases? Datomic only came out in 2012. Your comment seems like a shameful plug that has no place here.

You have another option: Unreal Engine Blueprints. If you're not comfortable with C++, use Blueprint, that's what it's there for.

What kind of shoes were you using? People have unique feet, so you may need to be fitted. Find a running store and sit down with an employee to find running shoes that will best suit your feet.

Some Japanese dude overclocked a P4 to 5GHz in 2004, and there are reports of people getting a P4 to 8GHz in 2007. There's also this cooler that Intel made in 2006, though I'm not sure of it's success: http://www.

The reason Google can give you good results is because of the tracking they do at tailoring the search results to you. DuckDuckGo doesn't do tracking like Google, so it's not going to be tailored to you.
