For some context, my brother won't even use FSD because the driver monitoring system nags him SO much. It literally tracks his eyes and if he's not paying attention for a few seconds (even glancing out the window, looking down at

Don't even know how to respond to this lol. Their EV's are head and shoulders above the competition

Nothing bad happened here and they caught an issue without any incident or injury. I wonder if there will ever be a day where Hackernews isn't actively rooting for the downfall of innovative technology companies

In fact he started this company after looking into how they're going to make gas when they get to Mars

Natural gas is just the beginning, they'll be able to make any hydrocarbon in time

Social Security doesn't even make the top 100 of why it's better than a 100 years ago.

I wonder when Emad will be outed as a fed or a fraud. He's certainly leaving a trail of nasty behavior in the industry.

operational management is influenced by the pressure it takes to survive. Nasa doesnt need to make money to survive. SpaceX does. but agreed theres more too it than that

You have an insane view of the world and SpaceX will be wildly profitable

NASA has been incredibly wasteful for a long time. You give it more money then suddenly the timelines become longer. Private companies like SpaceX will save us

1. They're not a nonprofit 2. They had shut down their robotics wing so now their using investment to get back into the game. 3. What's with this negative tone?

I just mean they've claimed in the past something outlandish coming soon and then didn't deliver. A 35,000 SUV EV with 300+ range would be breaking ground.

I very much bet it will not. Or if it will they will be selling at a giant loss. Here's another claim from them in 2018 about upcoming cars requiring a technological breakthrough: https://www.npr.org/sections/thetw

Truly a mindless article. Money attracts talent, doesn't matter what the historical rates have been or what the absolute cost to live is. If a good person can get 50 million instead of 3 million they're going to take it.

Except my sister and her husband died in a plane crash 2 years ago. A lot of these ultra cautious safety requirements apply a lot more to bigger commercial airlines and less to small private chartered planes.

These range discussions are always a bit ridiculous to me, as it's an average/guess. It's just energy so many things play a factor. How fast was the driver going? How much wind was there? How often did they use AC and stereo?

What could possibly go wrong if we stay on our current course of action? If you need 100% certainty you'll never do anything and just die by default.
