why not have a more granular heatmap as the main viz? coloring by state boundaries is really unintuitive and often misleading, even without Mercator projection criticisms.

the easiest way to see a subpixel is to put a drop of water on the display. you probably get 100x magnification this way :)

it's easier to think about it with 100 doors. if you get to pick one and he opens 98 of the remaining ones, obviously you would switch to the remaining one you didnt pick, since 99/100 times the winning door will be in his set.
