We didn't adjust for native vs. non-native speakers. Despite that, we did end up hiring several people from outside the U.S. In general, I think native and non-native speakers should be held to the same communication bar. No one is de

What companies actually require people to have a GitHub and LinkedIn to apply? I've been doing recruiting for about a year and a half, and I've never seen this be a hard and fast prerequisite. I guess I could see a situation where

Good questions. 1. So, once someone was "in" (as in, they got to interview stage), we didn't consider any of these factors. Everything after getting into the interview process was purely about interview performance. As it h

What I really hate is the incentive structure that drives a lot of the bad behavior people associate with recruiters. At the heart of the matter, the incentive is economic, and LinkedIn's features are just a function of that. However, that

It depends on what the recruiter's goals are. If you're trying to build a brand and establish longterm relationships with people, then, yes, spamming the world is not in your interest. If you're working for an agency, have a quota, and are

I'm a recruiter, but I hate LinkedIn. In some ways, that's a gross exaggeration because LinkedIn does one thing very, very well: it standardizes people's work experience and puts it all in one place. Once you get used to reading LinkedIn

Have you guys thought about applying this model to f/t roles (i.e. not just contract)? I know contract work may make more sense because of the shorter stints/more business, but perhaps with enough volume, this is something that could work.
